Terms and Conditions

By agreeing to purchase ad hoc lessons or a block of lessons, all pupils agree to the following contract terms.

(A) Definitions

  1. Teacher refers to the individual providing piano lessons.

  2. Pupil refers either to adult pupils, or the parents of child pupils.

  3. Prime slots refer to lesson times between 4pm and 7pm Monday to Friday, and between 10am and 1pm on Sundays.

  4. Ad hoc slots refer to all other lesson times.

  5. Blocks refer to a string of weekly lessons, paid for in advance. Each block covers half a term of lessons. Occasionally, a block will be smaller than half a term, where a new pupil starts midway through term.

(B) Prime slot lessons

  1. Prime slots are paid for in blocks. The number of lessons in each block depends on the length of the term, but will usually cater for between 5 and 7 weeks of lessons per half term.

  2. A block of lessons, pertains to specific dates and times, as laid out in the invoice. If a pupil wishes to cancel a lesson within a current block, it will be entirely down to the discretion of the teacher whether that lesson is made up at a future mutually agreed time. Teachers are encouraged to be reasonable in cases of pupil illness, but are under no obligation to make up missed lessons within the block.

  3. If for any reason a teacher has to cancel a lesson within a block, that lesson will either be refunded or carried forward to the next block, according to the mutual agreement of the teacher and pupil.

(C) Ad hoc slots

  1. Ad hoc slots can be booked for any time (except prime slots), with the mutual agreement of the teacher and pupil.

  2. Once the date and time of an ad hoc slot has been agreed upon, the pupil can give 24 hours notice to cancel that lesson. No further obligations will then arise.

  3. If a pupil gives less than 24 hours’ notice to cancel an ad hoc slot, they will be liable for the lesson fee in full.
